Wonderful french food and wine. Visiting a museum is a must. We opted for the YSL exhibition and it was a wonderful experience. I am a huge fan of the late designers work and spent hours admiring the collections on display. Highly recommended.

Sharing some more photos from our trip to Paris. Wish I was there right now! Sun, warmer weather, open toe shoes and amazing food and wine are just some of the allures of the french capital. I planned on a lot of shopping, but ended up with almost nothing, which have never happened before. However, I decided the weather was much to nice for shopping, and that I would rather enjoy my days of with my husband, drinking wine and enjoying the marvels of french food. Have a great weekend!

From Paris with Love

IMG_3891

IMG_3883

Spent easter in Paris drinking wine and enjoying Spring at the sidewalk cafès. After weeks of hard work is was nothing short of amazing, and there is quite something about Paris in the Spring that holds a special kind of allure. We stayed at a wonderful hotel with a Spa and just enjoyed life to its fullest. I almost did not do any shopping (gasp), but ended up having an amazing time just relaxing, soaking up the sun and the culture. But I did end up getting those very cool Jeffrey Campell cloggs on ebay before I left, love them!

Outfit: Jacket secondhand, shirt and tights from Gina Tricot, t-shirt from GAP, vintage Chanel handbag and Jeffrey Campell shoes.

Freezing

hvit1

It is freezing in Norway right now, and its going to be even colder tomorrow. They say it will drop under -20/-4 farenheit, which is freezing cold. So, its safe to say that we have to pull out the layers. I am so happy my husband talked me into buying this faux fur jacket in NY, its so warm and cosy. I am one of those people who always freeze, but this jacket keeps me warm. I also got a new handbag that I am very excited about, perfect cognac color for spring.

Outfit: Faux fur jacket and beanie from H&M, jeans and boots from Acne, handbag from Marco Polo.

Hope you all had a wonderful time! I was up untill 4 am having lots of fun with friends. My camera broke down, but these are my dancing shoes for the night. Loved the fireworks, but it was so cold we only managed 10 minutes in the freezing snow before we headed back into the party. Thank you all for your support in 2009, I am so happy to be part of such an amazing community. Wish you all the best for the new year!

White Christmas

leila hafzi 1728

After three days of snowfall, it finally stopped snowing. But this is really what we call a white christmas. Every branch, tree and house is covered in snow. It feels a little like magic really. Hope you all are enjoying your holiday no matter if its snowing or the sun is shining.

Happy Holidays

leila hafzi 1719

I love Christmas. Sleeping in, decorating the Christmas tree and just relax with family and friends. Outside the snow is falling, on the radio they are playing christmas songs, and I am enjoying it all with a big cup of hot chocolate. Tonight we are having the traditional Christmas dinner and opening the presents as we do here in Norway on Christmas Eve. I hope you all enjoy your holiday and have a wonderful time with your family and friends.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Shopping at Target

I love Target. Whats not to love? Miles of clothing, make-up, furniture and a electronics department to leave your guy in. I always find tons of good stuff here, especially work out gear, cheap sunglasses and I also love their designer collaborations. I was hoping to see some Rodarte samples, but it was way to early. From what I have seen from pictures it really looks fab. Will you be shopping for Rodarte at Target?

Outfit: Joe`s jeans, top from Zara, shoes Old Navy, vintage Chanel handbag, sunglasses (just bought) from Target and a vanilla latte. Yum.

Cocktails in LA

siljela

Hope you all are having a wonderful sunday! Last night I was at the annual Christmas Party with work, and I was wearing this dress that I bought in NY. In LA, I used it when we went out for cocktails and drinks. I love to dress up, so it might not come as a suprise that I go all out when I have the possibility. Love the drapings of my new dress and the YSL-tribute shoes, that finally became mine. Have a wonderful sunday!

Outfit: Dress by Jessica McClintock at Macys, Yves Saint Laurent Tribute and bracelet from a jewelry shop in NY.

New Shoes

NYogLA2009 291

I finally managed to get my hands on a pair of cool leopard boots in New York. They were on sale, so it was a real bargain. These make any outfit pop and I am planning on wearing them to at least one christmasparty. Love NY in the evening, going out for drinks and good food, we had so much fun. Bryant Park was so different without the fashion tents, but it was lovely with the stands and ice rink.

New York

NYogLA2009 064

I am so sorry about not updating for the last two weeks. But I have been on a much needed vacation in New York & Los Angeles. I have had so much fun meeting up with old and new friends. Sometimes a boost is needed and this was definitely it. I will post pictures from my trip and all my recent shopping excursions, I got so many great bargains on our trip. Two days of bad weather did not stop us from enjoying New York. Picked up this big umbrella right away and that kept me dry and stylish the whole day. Love Central Park and the Boathouse. We went both a sunday for brunch and another day for lunch. Great food and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Outfit: Jacket from Tonica, kardigan from F21, fauxfurvest from Cubus, boots from Acne, scarf from H&M and vintage Chanel handbag.

Spring in Copenhagen

Spending easter break in Copenhagen was a wonderful experience. Not only was it much warmer than Oslo, it was a feast for the eyes and the senses. As you might have guessed, I love to travel. It gives me new energy and inspiration in a whirlwind world. Dont miss out on the beautiful castles and mansions outside of the city. Only ten minutes away by train lies lovely Charlottenlund.

There is always people enjoying the sun at the Rådhusplassen. Sit in the sun, listen to music and watch people walk on by.

Wearing: Trench from Lindex, tights H&M, Shoes of ebay, Scarf pashmina and Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag. When sighsteeing, I like to be both comfortable and stylish. I dont walk for hours and hours in high heels, because then I know I will have to go back and change. Worth seeing is Tivoli, shopping at Strøget, Charlottenlund, the little Mermaid (the statue bye the sea), the round tower. Eat at ChitChat and Søren K.

And visit all the small vintage and secondhandshops in the city. Glam in Silkegade has beautiful party dresses and lots of accessories.

TimesUp is more exclusive and has vintage pieces from YSL, Balenciaga and Christian Dior. A little more expensive, but great items, so a must see. I also visited Wasteland, The Second Way and Carmen and Fantasio. Read my Norwegian post at minmote. Inspite of all the lovely shops, I did not score that much vintageitems, due to the fact that a lot of the dresses were so big in size. But I managed to grab some bracelets and a jacket. After that we went shopping at Strøget and I manged to pick up these two pairs of shoes from Aldo.

I also recomend a visit to the shoppingcenters Magasinet and Illum to check out the Danish designers, Holly Golightly and Marc Jacobs. What I love about this city is that most shops are in walking distance, so you just put on your best shoes and start the adventure.

Have a great weekend!

Holiday

Bilde 681
Wearing: Voice of Europe jacket, Gina Tricot skirt, Sweater and scarf from H&M, Boots F21.

I am so happy its easter and we have a couple of days just to relax. I know its hard to believe, but everything closes down in Norway in easter. I was tagged by the lovely Janet, and here are my answers.
1. Respond and rework. Answer the questions on your blog, replace one question you dislike with a question of your own invention; add a question of your own.
2. Tag eight other un-tagged people.
What is your current obsession? Getting my hands on some very special shoes and some vintage aviators...
Good fika place? In Oslo Kaffe & Krem, in Paris-any local restaurant , in LA Four Seasons (Splurge) or Sprinkles(dont tell me you can resist those cupcakes).

Do you nap a lot? I wish...
Who was the last person you hugged? My husband.
What’s my favourite dinner? Almost anything Italian, but pasta with truffles is excellent.
What was the last thing you bought? A gold vintage sequined jacket of ebay.
What are you listening to right now? ABBAs "Waterloo" and Destinys Childs "Independent Women", it always make me wanna dance.
What is your favourite weather? Summer! Let it be hot and marvelous.
What's in your bathroom cabinet? Lots of Biotherm, YSL, Chanel and so on. I am a beauty junkie.
Say something to the person/s who tagged you. Janet, you are so amazing. A visit to your blog always put a smile on my face!
If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? Los Angeles, so I could jet back and forth between friends.
Favourite vacation spot? Tuscany, Italy. Our honeymoon was amazing. Cant wait to go back.

What is your favourite tea flavour? Cinnamon.
What would you like to get rid of? Negative people, who only wants to put you down.
What did you want to become as a child? A ballet dancer.
What do you miss? Girls night out! Way to long since we went dancing.
What are you reading right now? Always fiction. I guess serial killers make me relax..
What's your favourite brand of jeans? Seven for all Mankind, Acne and Current Elliott.
What designer piece of clothing would you most like to own (new or vintage)? A vintage Halston or YSL dress from the 70s. Preferably a maxidress in gold, blue or pink.
Would I live my life differently to how I do now? No, I think my life is pretty amazing.

Another Christmas Party

In Norway its all about the dinners & parties at Christmas. Its lovely & a great excuse to bring out all those party dresses you got stashed in your closet. But here the dress is hidden under a classic black wool trench, which is a great option to stay warm, and still look stylish.Trench from Banana Republic, that I bought in LA. The hidden dress is vintage, Boots by Acne, Faux fur scarf, H&M beanie, vintage sunglasses and vintage Chanel handbag.
Thank you all for all your lovely Christmas wishes! I have had a wonderful time, except from a cold that does not seem to get any better. Oh well, more time for me to catch up on all the movies I wanted to see. On my playlist are: The Family Stone, SATC- The Movie, The Holiday, PS I Love you, The Birds, Rear Window, Notting Hill & Love Actually. If I am better tomorrow, I am off to check out the Christmas sales.

Tusen takk for hyggelige julehilsner.

A Meeting With Dita Von Teese

Photo: Elissa Love Goodkin
Men hun
var veldig søt og hyggelig. Hun fortalte at hun elsker vintage,
og at hun ofte drar rundt på messer og plukker klærne sine selv.
På samme stand traff jeg forøvrig også et par andre kjendiser.
Mer om dette kan du lese om i min nye spalte i Du Denne uken,
som er i butikkene idag!

As promised I am giving you a sneak peak from the magazine
Du Denne uken, about some of my experiences in Los Angeles. As
of this week I have my own column (Yay!) and my first topic is my meeting
with Dita Von Teese, while vintageshopping in LA. Me and my good
friend Elissa, went to Fashion Expo in Santa Monica to look for some
vintage treasures. And that was not all we found, because as we
were rummaging through old dresses from the 50s I saw
Dita Von Teese doing the same thing. It was unreal, but she
was very nice. She is so tiny, I felt like a giant next to her. She loves
vintage, and she scored a lot of deals while we where there. She
picked up quite a few vintage dresses and chinese inspired kimonos,
brooches and pants. She said she often goes by herself and likes to
look through things, like me. Usually people leave her alone (not me!)
and she said she had found some amazing things tis time. On top of
that there were two other quite famous celebs rummaging around.
One is a stylist to the stars and always wears sunglasses and fur, while the
other is Oprahs favorite interiordesigner. Can you guess who I am
talking about?

Almost Friday

While I went home from work today, I was thinking about
one of the nice moments on our trip to Los Angeles. This friday
was one of them, sitting outside talking with friends and having
drinks at The Grill in Westlake.

If you ever stop by you must try one of the drinks
called Ruby Red Grapefruit Martini. Its soo good it will
make your head spin. They also have amazing food, and
fridays the have happy hour prices. How I wish it was
friday and that we were still in LA!
Wearing: vintage sunglasses from San Francisco,
scarf from Bik Bok, tee from H&M and Seven for
all Mankind jeans.

Brunch at The Four Seasons

We were so lucky to get to experience a brunch at The Four Seasons
in Westlake Village. It was amazing sitting on the patio, enjoying the
company of friends, the food and the spectacular garden.

I really enjoyed the serenity of the garden. No wonder it
is a spa/wellness hotel.

My first Mimosa before heading into the buffet. Can you
think of a better way to spend a sunday?

The brunch is marvelous with a great selection. Be sure to get there
hungry, so you have room for all the fantastic food like panckakes,
mini toast, salads, sushi (yum), lobster, desserts and so much more..

I decided to sample all the different food with just a small piece
of each. That was a great idea, and I was very happy with my
4 small servings. At our table, my husband won hands down
with 6 trips to the buffet.

Of course we had to have another round of that amazing champagne.

Having fun.

My new beloved Pucci shoes. These were a steal at Wasteland
the other day.

Cardigan: Cubus

Vintage Shopping at Melrose

Outfit: Tee Vero Moda, Jeans American Eagle (just bought),
vintage bracelets and Gucci Handbag. After a morning with
pedicure and coffee, we decided to drive down to Melrose
for some vintage shopping. I love Melrose, because the stores
are within walking distance and the stores have such a variety
of clothes. One store is great at leather jackets while another have
a great collection of shoes.

Wasteland is one of my all time favorite stores. Not only do
they have cute vintage dresses, they sell last seasons Marc Jacobs,
Pierre Hardy, Gucci and so on, to affordable prices. We spent quite
some thing looking through everything. My best advice when it
comes to vintage shopping, is to be patient and have a lot of time.
I can be a very fast shopper, but thats only because I know what
I am looking for. Still, then you can miss some gems that arent to obvious.

You can easily spend a whole day vintageshopping at Melrose.

Slow is very affordable. You can pick up leather clutches
for about 10 dollars and up. They also have nice sunglasses,
dresses and a cool mens selection which includes cowboy boots
and tons of suits from the 70s.

A great store with a huge collection of leather jackets,
winter coats and sequined dresses. Check the backroom
for the ultimate goodies. I did not find the ultimate black
leather jacket, but I must say I was impressed with the selection.

One of my favorite stores in LA. Upstairs they carry all
the ultimate within vintage, like Hermes handbags and YSL
dresses from the 70s. Decades Two downstairs, is much more
affordable, and you can find Marc Jacobs, DVF, Missoni and
tons of other designer brands for less. It is still pricey compared
to other vintage stores like Wasteland, but well worth a visit.

The window display at Decades.

After all that shopping, it was time for some r & r. What better
than the worlds best cupcakes from Sprinkles?

The line was insane, at least the whole block (we were in
the middle when I took this photo). At least we had fun!

And it was totally worth it. My favorite? Coconut and vanilla.

My best buy: Pierre Hardy shoes at Decades. I also
bought Pucci shoes and some bracelets.

Tomorrow: Brunch at The Four Seasons
